Born into the fashion world on the 25th of July 1953, Bardo Fabiani is an Italian fashion photographer. Son of renown designer Simonetta Visconti and tailor, Alberto Fabiani, the owners of two huge fashion Couture houses in Italy, he was handed his first camera at only the age of 7. Bardo graduated from The Rosey boarding school, Switzerland in 1971 and in 1972 became the assistant of acclaimed photographer David Bailey at Vogue UK, London. His path set forth as he took on his first jobs for the Daily Telegraph’s fashion section as well as making reportages and writing supplements for the Sunday Times Magazine. These opportunities led him to travel to places such as Tunisia or Rome where he worked on the set of Fellini’s Casanova and Zeffirelli’s Jesus of Nazareth.

From one fashion capital to the other, Bardo moved to Milan, Italy, in 1975, where he started his first job as a fashion photographer for Vogue Italia. In 1980, Bardo relocated to England, in a studio in Glebe Place, London. He launched into working for the most iconic magazines in London, such as Ritz Magazine, a cult magazine owned by David Litchfield and David Bailey. Furthermore, he engaged in shooting advertising photographs for the biggest UK fashion stores, including Selfridges, Debenhams, M&S, Burberry’s, N’Peal, Pringle of Scotland and many more.

His 25 year long career working for Vogue initiated in 1990, after meeting the editor-in-chief Franca Sozzani, in Milan. Bardo started a regular collaboration, consisting in taking all of the backstage beauty photographs of all top models during fashion shows and shoots. During this time, Bardo will take an innumerable amount of portraits of huge names, actors and artists such as Rupert Everett, Gérard Depardieu, Roberto Cavalli, Armani, Lacroix and others. In 1996, Bardo will commence a memorable work partnership with Vogue editor at large and iconic journalist, Anna Piaggi, creating monthly 4 to 6 pages of fascinating DP’s; a collaboration that will keep going strong all the way until 2012, marking an era of unforgettable fashion.
